As a male, what are your thoughts on porn?

Honestly, speaking in strictly un-religious terms, the good or evil that can come from pornography is entirely circumstantial and based on the unique details of each respective situation.

Financially, the industry makes a hell of a lot of money.  It’s a huge business because it has such a high demand.  So I suppose it’s positive in that way.

Morally, I’m unsure of how I feel about it.  I do know, however, that if it becomes an addiction like it oftentimes does, then it automatically becomes a negative thing.  Regardless of what effect it has on your or your life or anyone around you, if you can’t stop doing something, that’s bad.  That goes for anything, whether it be drugs, alcohol, porn, coffee, gummi worms, or eating paper.  If it has control over you, and not vice versa, then that’s not good.

Another important point to address is pornography’s effect on relationships.  If your girlfriend doesn’t want you looking at it, then stop looking at it.  When you’re in a relationship with someone, your sexual life becomes hers and hers becomes yours.  So regardless of how you feel about it, she has nearly as much as say in the matter as you do.

The fact of the matter is this:  If you can’t make it through a day or a month or whatever without looking at it, then chances are you have a pornography addiction.  Then addictions to pornography become addictions to sex, and ultimately an addiction to sex becomes a list of priorities that gets severely fucked up.  Sex becomes more important than anything to you.  I’ve noticed that men like this end up missing out on the incredible gifts and beauties that a woman has to offer because they’re so concerned about how attractive she is and how great it would be to have sex with her.

Ultimately I think it boils down to whether or not pornography becomes a crutch.  In moderation, and if you believe it’s morally okay, then I don’t see the harm in it.  The problem is that so many men lie to themselves about their addictions and end up being somewhere they really don’t wanna be.

So there you go.  A completely unorganized flow of thoughts awkwardly answering your question in a babbling ramble.  Hope you’re pleased.
